Michigan Works! Program

Qualified Michigan Works! Applicants are encouraged to apply for enrollment in the boat school’s full-time nine month vocational program. The GLBBS is the only licensed boat building school in the state. Courses in lofting, basic design theory, woodworking, joinery, and both traditional and modern boat building are taught by master boat builder and teacher Patrick Mahon and instructor Adam Burks at the school's 12,000 square foot facility. Graduates will have the necessary skills to pursue entry level employment in the boat building, joinery and repair industries. For more information on those opportunities please visit www.boatingcareerinfo.org. More information is also available at www.michiganworks.org or by calling the Great Lakes Boat Building School at 1-906-484-1081.
